Recycle Bin Items Restore Automatically During Import

Hello Helical Insight Team,

We are using Open Source BI tool Helical Insight version 5.2.3 and have noticed an issue with the Recycle Bin functionality.

Steps to Reproduce:

In local, create a folder “Test” with a report “Test_Report” and export it.

In second environment, create the same folder and same named report. Then delete the report (it moves to Recycle Bin), but don’t delete the folder.

From your first server now export that report and try to import.

Observed Behavior:

With Skip, nothing gets imported.

With Update, the deleted report from the Recycle Bin gets automatically restored, even though it is different report with same name

Is it expected behavior that items in the Recycle Bin get automatically restored during import (when using Update), instead of importing the new report? Ideally my report should get imported.

Thanks.

Hello Netta,

As per the current system design, the application checks the entire repository, including items in the Recycle Bin.

Because of this, if a file with the same name exists in the Recycle Bin and you perform an Update, the system will restore that file and update it. This is why it appears again in the File Browser.

This behavior is expected and cannot be changed at the moment, as it is part of the current architecture.

Note : To avoid this issue, we recommend clearing the Recycle Bin before performing any import operation

Thank You,
Helical Insight Team.
