Helical-insight-ce installation on Manjaro(arch) : cannot access log files

Hi. I’m currently trying to install Helical-Insight CE locally on Manjaro.
I followed all the procedure for manual install described in the documentation
For some reason, during the war extraction by tomcat8, I got some errors related to permissions…
I can’t access helical interface because I’m getting 404 not found.
In Arch-related distros, the owner of the tomcat8 files is the user tomcat8. I tried to chmod 777 all the needed files in the HI folder, and I also tried to chown to the tomcat8 user. none of this worked… For each try I deleted the generated hi-ce directory in /var/lib/tomcat8/webapps then I restarted tomcat via systemctl.
Changing the log name in the config file doesn’t change anything.
I do not have SElinux.
I still do not know why I’m getting this error…
I joined the tomcat log (journalctl)tomcat.txt (31.7 KB)

Can you please help me out ?

Hello KyronNextLevel,

Below are the steps which will help you resolving your problem.

  1. Could you please try using tomcat 7.0.x version.
  2. As you said you got an error related to permissions, Please make sure that “settings.xml” file is having all the permission to the user. You will find this xml file at below location

“/home/peio/helicalinsight/hi-repository/System/Admin/setting.xml”

  1. Change the user group to the tomcat user using the chown command.

Thank You
Helical Team.
