I have dragged a varchar field. I am doing a count of invoices and it is showing me a number, which is good. I see the field is in green color now (measure). But I am not able to put formatting on this number, this field is not available in Format dropdown.

Hello,
This is a known issue and will be fixed in upcoming release. However, for now if you convert the count of invoices column to a numeric field by applying db functions and select “Apply before aggregate” which appears when we click on dropdown. This will enforce the field to be a number and this will be available in Format options
You can always click on “SQL Viewer” and verify whether the SQL which is getting generated is correct or not.
