Copying Reports, Dashbords to another application

Hello Sir/Madam,

I have one HI in azure, and one in a vmware image locally.

What is the process to save off the reports, dashboards, etc on one instance of HI in azure, and copy it to another locally, without having to rebuild the reports, dashboards, etc.?

Thanks.

Hi Harika,

Below mentioned is the shortest method of how it can be done:

  1. At the place where you have installed Helical Insight, all the files folders gets stored in “hi-repository”. You can copy only selected content or all the content from “hi-repository” of your Azure instance and paste it into your local instance “hi-repository”. It is always advisable that the folder structure of content from source and into target matches.

  2. Copy paste “globalConnections.xml” file from source (azure) into your local one. Globalconnections.xml file is present in “Helical Insight\hi-repository\System\Admin” folder. In the local instance if you have already created few dbconnections that also you can manually copy and add into this global connections.xml but please make sure that each datasource in globalconnection file should have a unique id.

  3. Open the metadata in the edit mode inside helical insight application. Once it is open in the “Info” tab point it to the correct datasource.
